Default Hot Lava Paint issue

The other day when i got done waxing my hot lava, a friend of mine pointed out to me that the sides fo the bumper that are next to the fender are a slightly different color than the rest of the car. Almost like a shade more bronze. I was wondering if this is becuase the bumper is plastic or a common thing, or if i should try to get it repainted?

Because they are urethane, that could be one possible explanation. If it fades quicker than the paint on the metal parts, then you need to have a toyota dealer fix it under warranty.

if it is only on one side its possible the car was damaged and repaired (painted) by the dealership where you bought it. I certainly hope this is not what happened but it is a possiblity.

i am hopeing its just bad paint. I am aware that the dealer/toyota is required by law to disclose the damage and repair if it was over a certain amount. I just want the paint to match

the different colors is because of the different materials. urethane looks different and takes paint different then metal. it is nothing to worry about.

I saw the car first hand yesterday. If you arent looking for the difference, then you wont see it. Once its pointed out, it sticks out like a sore thumb. I certainly hope they fix it, at least so the color is closer, not so mismatched.

BTW, thanks again for the extra ticket/ wrist band for my kid, i really appreciate it.

It was nice meeting you too. Honestly the paint is a minor concern and my dealer in acton, ma has just plain taken care of me so far so i am not terribly concerned.

As some of the others had mentioned, paint over urethane will look different. Also, you stated that it's the sides of the bumpers that look more bronze...it may just be that they're reflecting more light than a straight panel and the Hot Lava appears to have a pearlescent base.

FWIW, unless you're sure that it's been retouched by the dealer and it's definitely not factory paint, I'd be EXTREMELY hesitant in having anyone screw with a factory paint job. Factory paint jobs are shot with robotics, not people. It doesn't always mean it's a better job, just a more consistent one.
