Default My first mod! -- glow rings

I have had the xB for 2 years, but this is the first mod I have done to it. Little mod it may be, but it is a start. My wife claimed the xB when we bought it, and would not let me do anything to it. Well today I bought new wiper blades for it. And as I was wondering thru the store I found these.....

They fit arround the base of the headlight bulb and glow for about 45 minutes. My digital camera sucks with dark pics, and this is the best it could do...

They must be made of good quality silicone, as I droped one on the hot exhaust manifold and it sat on there for about 30 seconds before I could get it out. There was no damage at all.

When I opend the pack one flew up and hit the hood, and when it droped, it fell in one of the holes in the heat cover for the manifold. It sat there till I could get a screw driver to fish it out. They did not show any hint of melting from the manifold.

I got them at Trac Auto. $5.99

Pretty sure I saw the same thing offered here in Ohio at a Parts America store, up front with all the engine dress-up stuff. Also about $9-10.

I'm kind of confused as to what the point of these are if they only glow for 45 minutes...can somebody explain more or maybe someone post a different picture?

all it is is glow in the dark silicon or whatever. its just to give a neat effect as you walk away from your car or wghatever. if you wanted you could mout a blacklight in your headlight housing and it would glow continuosly
