Default Need some good advice on how to......

....paint my OEM front grill. It is currently white and I would like to paint it black. Should I use Enamel or Laquer? And if so what brands? Thanks.

You'd be better off checking for a used black grille around here or ebay.

I agree with the guys above me. I painted a grille once... it chipped really easily.

what i did was i took the grille and lightly sanded it with very high grit paper, then i used metallic black from auto zone (the actual car paint in little cans), i sprayed 4-5 thin coats and let them sit under my shop lamps for about an hour between coats... then i did 3-4 coats of clear (from AZ aswell, in the little cans) and then after i was done, let the whole thing sit under my lamps for about 4 hours before even thinking of putting it on the car.... never had a prob with chipping...

Thanks for the vote of confidence. I did mine right (er, as 'right' as you can go with a rattle can) and it still chipped. Do whatever you want, I honestly don't care, I was just offering you my personal experience in that the use of rattle can paint jobs does not generally turn out the best work.

Rednecks's got it right. If you take the time to do it right, then you'll be rewarded in the end.

I have painted lots of plastic bumpers, grilles, trim etc...I make sure it is sanded lightly and use the Duplicolor Adhesion Promotor before the paint and clear sprays...never had chipping issues...
