yeah mine moved some, but that was after a 1000 mile drive from MA to MD and back. Just make sure you didnt strip the screws again, maybe thats causing it to slip.

Does anyone know how the Scion dealer one (Valor Manufactoring) installs? Is it these same kind of clamps or what?

Take it back to the store and exchange it.

Nothing is perfect, you might have gotten an F'd up piece. Mine stays tight, its been almost a year now. Hope you still have the receipt!

The stock tip is held on by some metal tabs that catch on the actual exhaust pipe. Just bend them up with a flat blade screwdriver or a pick, and slide the tip off. You might need a hammer if it has some rust buildup. The new tip has 3 bolts to secure it.

I went with the round version, found it at Advance.

And the part # is:

I bended the metal tabs with screwdriver, but stock tip won't come off. I'm scared to tug too hard... Feels like the whole exhaust system is getting pulled with it. Which part of tip can I hit with a hammer to remove it?

Also, is there any specific area of the exhaust pipe that I need to secure the 3 bolts around?

If it's just going in the trash anyway, use whatever means you need to get it off. Put the screwdriver at the seam of the tip and the exhaust pipe, and hit it toward the back of the car. You might need to spray some WD40 or whatever in there to break it free from the rust.
As for mounting the new one, just position it where you want it to sit and tighten the 3 bolts. No specific area.

yeah what he said, just beat the crap out of it. stick you screw dirver at the back seem and pry up all around the end of the factory tip, after a whille the tip will come off. my exhaust was tilted to the right, although every one elses seems to be to the left. hmm. heres some pics. btw, the tip is called cyclops, its at autozone.

heres how i compensated for the right sided offness of the factory exhaust pipe, i just screwd the bolts in further on the right:

how it looks on my thunder cloud box:

i know there is already a side by side comparison, but hell, heres another

I have the Valor tip. Best price I think was at scionpartspeople.com

My local dealer matched their price and had it in stock so I could see it. Fits perfect and people think I have a exhaust but for 300.00 for 2 HP just isn't cost effective for me. Find a nice tip to fill the hole and move on!!
