NorCal or SoCal Style?

NorCal or SoCal Style?
Until recently people have had only one choice on how to mount their License Plate. California is changing that, with two different styles derived from geographical locations.
The North and The South.
NorCal .............
And SoCal.........

I don't know about a "North vs. West" thing, but I know that I won't run a front plate unless it's to get a ticket signed off! That law sucks, and putting a plate on the front kills the stock lines, so I won't run it. My front plate is on my wall at work, and that's where it stays!
As for the "So Cal" mount, I think I remember a cop telling my buddy that it wasn't legal? Not sure, but maybe someone on here knows!

I dunno about the Cali thing.
I am in Florida now and we are not required to run a front plate.(YEAAA!)
But,being from Ohio which runs a front plate, you cannot have anything between the plate and the view of the cop!
In the front or in the rear.
Meaning,no clear or tinted plate cover,no mounting inside the glass.
The plate is supposed to have an open unobstructed view.
But that was in Ohio!
The one on the bumper looks better anyway!IMHO!

Yeah the whole purpose of having the front plate is to make it more visible to the police or those photo-radar cameras at intersections. It's just gives the government one more way to identify vehicles...
...Oh and on the license plate mounting, i guess i'd pick the plate mounted to the side of the bumper. it looks sorta jdm (e.g. lancer evolution). To be in compliance with the so -cal style you'd probably have to keep your visor down at all times, pretty dumb imo

I had read a few posts on mounting plates in different locations and making brackets and stuff and it was kinda dumb so i decided to put it on the visor as a joke but i guess no one got it. :?

I don't know about this thread,,,
there is no NorCal nor a SoCal way to mount front lic...most of us run without plates in the front...and as far as the SoCal style pictured, that's the first time I've seen that before and I've seen alot of Scions down here in this area.... :?: :?: :?: :? :? :?

Hmm, I didn't know there was a Nor*Cal and SoCal way of mounting license plates. Either way, I'm in the same category as Nilo, I'm not running my front plate. What!?! A Nor*Cal'er doing a SoCal'er mod!?! Ok, ok. I'm joking.
As far as the vehicle code goes, the first falls within the code, but the visor mounted one does not.

Yeah man, this is just stupid. I for one have been in socal 20 years and have yet to see the front plate mounted like that. If anything, we just lay it on the top of the dash.
And for the nor*cal guys, I saw scionicman's plate like that the other day and it looks good. He did a DIY on that install somewhere on here and it looks great in person.
