I'm getting fairly sick of the bottom of my hood but dont wanna pull this stuff totally off. Has anyone tried dying that insulation padding stuff under our hoods? Paint? input appreciated guys

 

dyeing or painting it will make it useless for it's intended purpose... just take it off and be done w/ it!

 

Its purpose is to limit heat transfer to the hood, which can cause issues with the paint. Taking it off would make it the most useless, followed by painting, then dyieng.

I know a guy who fiberglassed the whole thing, then painted. Looks real sharp!

You could try wrapping it (ala the headliner) in material.

 

wrapping idea isnt bad. But fabric would get dirty as heck. maybe a vinyl of some type

 

If I'm not mistaken, the material is supposed to turn into a foam when introduced to an engine fire to "suffocate" the fire.

If so, painting it would not be recommended.

I covered mines with the same fabric as my headliner...I powerwash it when I'm washing the car...
