YOU refer to it as a handle and there is a Stronger Handle available.
Here is a little Reminder and Education for you:
http://www.clubxb.com/forums/f30/chr...ly-9794-3.html

Ogerdgonz:
"You are already getting free shipping ($15) and a price that is a low introductory price. If you order now you are getting a
stronger chrome plated handle for less than half of what a new stock one costs after paint.
Order them now before the introductory price is gone....."

You spent a good part of the middle of last year collaborating with Steve from Scionpro promoting his Handles
http://www.clubxb.com/forums/f30/chr...ly-9794-4.html
In fact, YOU were all over the chrome xB tailgate HANDLE board.

Ogerdgonz:
"How can it be a design flaw when it is not a handle it is a piece of trim????"

You didn't call it a trim on your Topic:
http://www.clubxb.com/forums/f29/pos...ome-12342.html

"Post your photos of your Scionpro Chrome Tailgate Handle"
You did a DIY on Installing the HANDLE on your own ride w/ pics.

Steve from Scionpro is a well respected Vendor and has supported many clubs and has Sponsor cars. He also has worked at a Scion Dealer
and Listen to What He Say about the weak Handle that breaks:

http://www.clubxb.com/forums/f29/chr...re-9619-3.html

Steve@Scionpro:
"The new handle comes complete with the studs already molded in and
we have strengthened this area to resist breakage.
The factory ones have a habit of breaking around the stud area. I would rate this a 3 at most."

And the Chrome Handle YOU obtained from Steve is listed as:

http://www.scionpro.com/cart/product...roducts_id=575

"Chrome xB Grab Handle"

*Note: his description throughout refers to the item as a handle Not a trim.
And note his references about having to re-engineer the item and re-enforced studs and ribbing. Because the factory part is a Design Flaw and he had to strengthen his to reduce breakage.

Can you spell H-A-N-D-L-E?

MR LUV
Oh my god. STOP!

You did not miss your calling as a teacher.

Have you tried opening your hatch using the "door pull handle" instead of the "back door garnish"?

Try it.

Well, Mr Luv may have something, I have had my xB for over five years and my handle broke today. It gets used a lot, but not abused. At least my plastic car is paid for, so I am not really all that concerned about it. I'll just replace it and laugh when it breaks again, hopefully in another five years.

I have the scionpro handle, but only because I broke the stock one when it was like -10F outside. Everything breaks at that temperature. Besides, I like chrome.

/going to polish my hubcaps soon

You could always shave it like above, but when your bored and you've never seen one molded in you make your own.

Damn, that's slick.

I am a fan of how the chrome one stands out, though:

No, I had no rear lip at the time.
Yes, I did install that in horrifyingly cold weather.

I do really like the contras between the blue paint and black windows in that picture, however.

yeah I agree the Chrome handle is sick looking.

Best route to go when the stock crap breaks.

Why would you want to paint it? It has a lifetime warranty on it and as soon as you paint it the warranty is void.

I would want to paint it because I don't want a big pice of chrome on my hatch.

FYI the Scion Pro handle/garnish can not be painted. I forgot it is copper plated and then chrome plated.

You will have to go with a stock replacement.
