Default Road trip with Vortex generators

Utah to Santa Monica. I bought these vortex generators a while ago, and am really going to test them out. When I put them on the first time I didnt like the look and peeled them off. They were basically designed by this guy to fill the parachute better on race cars and to stabalize trailers........i think.......loose translation. Bottom line, I'm going to run them on the trip and record my mileage.

I am running a precision muffler mangaflow axleback, ebay header, and SRI, and Mikochu ground systeem. My stereo is out and my stock steelies are on. I am dropped on DF210s. I'm hoping to see lower RPM's at cruising speed (4k at 80 is where I was today on a test drive).

Il;l post pics of my setup in a day or so. please comment on the generators, I'm open to thoughts or discussions. I've heard they make a difference, and I am just kind of curious to see for my self. They dont look great, but ill take the MPG.

Link to site for the generators. They were on the Xb that did the great american road trip..... http://www.prfprod.com/info.html

edit, while drying my car with the shop vac on blow, I saw the water shoot up anf over the rear spoiler when it hit the generators. I was able to see what they do to the wind. Kinda neat.

Excuse the errors, I'm a lazy poster.

are you talking about those fin things that you can stick onto your car?

in my honest opinion, you wasted your money. there is absolutely nothing behind that product; it's just a marketing gimmick. and the box doesn't have enough acceleration/momentum for that stuff to even matter.

I'd be shocked to see any significant increase in mileage.

There will be a significant increase in ugly though.

i got the idea from the great american road trip xb cause these guys sponsored it.....but anyway, long story short, dont think they make a difference.

Drove the box 300 miles ith them, speed varied from 55 to 95, i was using teh vacuum gauge as my econometer. I still only got 31 MPG. i figured by shifting to prevent having to floor it to main tain speed i would save, but no. So basically im too impatient to drive slow to get 35. I'lltake 31 at 85 for now.....

But you dont need acceleration to have those things make a diference, they are just supposed to kick the wind up and over the back of the car rather than let it wrap around. I saw this happen when i lew the water of, but I don't think it's worth it now, even just for a road trip....

Anything you attach to your car creates drag. Drag reduces your gas mileage. The end. Cutting holes in your car will do the same thing. Unless you have access to a wind tunnel you're pretty much stuck with what Toyota gave you.

hmmmm, well i'm usually skeptical about these sort of things, the onlly reason I got them was because the guy is local to utah and I saw his shop. Oh well, I didnt notice anything, and I'm peeling them off once again. They don't even look horrible, they arent super big and they nearly match the color. Oh well, thanks guys.
