Default Rocker molding attachment clips

I recently purchased a 2005 xB. One of the rocker panel moldings was sagging, so I removed it and discovered a few of the attachments clips were broken. When I got replacement clips from the dealership I noticed they looked different (shorter, yellow). I mentioned this observation to the parts counter clerk and he assured me these were the right clips, same ones that Toyota had been using on all models. Well, sometimes I hate being right, because the new clips are too short and won't lock in properly. Has anyone else run into this, and if so, can you direct me to clips that might actually work? Any insights appreciated!

Have you looked at any OEM parts diagrams online to see if you can find the actual part number referenced to compare to what you got?

I buy my replacement clips on Ebay. It helps to know what they actually look like before searching.

Yes, the part number matches the parts diagram (Rocker Molding Clip – Part Number: 90467-10147). However, there is a similar part that is shown in the exact same location in the diagram (Rocker Molding Retainer – Part Number: 76924-02010). Unfortunately, the part image is only a line drawing, so I can't tell if it's different than what I received from the dealership. I'm attaching photos for reference. White clip is what came off the car. The yellow is what I got from the dealership.

Thanks for the tip. I took a look on eBay and found a lot of multipack kits, but didn't see anything that was specific enough to what I'm looking for. Though if I get desperate, I may purchase a bunch of random clips and see if any match.

I see what you mean about the big kits. Looks like repair shop quantities.

Here's a link that only filters "toyota". It doesn't filter model or year. There are some yellow ones that appear longer and stronger than the cheap white ones used on interior side panels. Might be the ones you need?

If all else fails, a bottle of rubber-reinforced Super Glue and or Gorilla tape might help. Good luck.

Appreciate the link. Thinking I'm going to take the old and new clips back to the dealership and see if I can get a clear answer on it. Thanks!

Ah,that makes sense. Those are the clips that attach the underside of the rocker molding. Haven't made it back to the parts counter yet. Stay tuned!
