Something a little different, under hood mod
I have seen the stainless underhood panels, but have not seen one in alunimum checkerplate. What do you think of this. Had thought of cutting out XB in the center and backlighting it. Any comments?

Yes I cut it out myself, used a jigsaw. Laid out the pattern on the back. Then placed the sheet face down on some towels so as not to mar the finish. I used the hood insulation for a basic shape reference. Also for hole placement. It is held in place with 4ea 10-24 screws. I used nut rivits in the hood. The plate only weighs a little over a pound, but I will only mount it when at a show. Don't want to risk any damage.
Nice work but it doesn't appeal to me. Maybe if you had more of it in the engine bay to compliment it. I think plates to cover the strut towers would look nice. Maybe someplates to cover the front brace. Engine cover?

I had a piece of checkerplate left over from a wagon project, so I already had the material. And I hadn't seen it done before. I am laying out the XB pattern now. I may not have it backlit by the Cruise-In, but I will try. Here is a photo one of my wagons. Sorry, it's a little dirty, just pulled the tarp of and shot the pic.

Thanks for the comments.
