Are you going one of the wagons to the show this month?

Looks good; would look good with the xB cutout and backlight. I'm thinking it would be cool if you could get some checkerplate vinyl for the VVT-i and Toyota logo on the engine cover, and maybe even for the top grill. I've seen folks do stainless covers for the top of the headlights and the area between the top grill and the brace; doing covers in checkerplate would look good too.

Default something different

Well I finally got the XB cut out and backlit. Wish I had spaced the letters a little further apart, but too late now. I used cheap marker lights just to see if it would light up OK. I also tried it with and without a matt lens material behind the cutout. Without it you see the underside of the hood. I used a 1/8" piece of plexiglass as a backing to mount the centers of the "B". What do you think?

With the matt lens.

Without the matt lens.

The wires are run below the XB letters. What you are seeing in the background are the ribs of the inner hood panel. I agree, the matt lens is the way to go. I will have to look for some frosted plexiglass for the main lens. Shouldn't be too hard to find. Will have to accumulate funds for some better lights and other materials. This was a project on the CHEAP. Thanks for all the compliments. We have a contractor come in at work that has a waterjet cutter, may have to see what kind of price he can give me on cutting a new one with the letters spaced a little further apart. I exhausted my supply of checker plate.

You could use a D A Sander and fog the back side of the lens.

Well I got the panel wired for our Cruise-In this past Saturday. I also cut checkerplate to set on top of my headlights, but didn't have time to cut out the plates to set on top of the strut towers. Heres a pic from the show, sun was so bright that my lights didn't show.

Hey that looks pretty good... BUT the 'x' in 'xB' is lowercase.

True, but I didn't think it would stand out enough. And most of the time I see it writen as XB. But I did it to make it stand out more. Thanks for the compliment.
