Default Tein Bonnet Dampers - Quick pics and Review

New to the forum here - just a quick review of my first "mod" on my 05' Scion Xb.

I originally bought my Xb as a daily driver - "do not modify" vehicle in order to keep miles off of my 996 (also the 996 doesn't hold much when it comes to storage) - I couldn't help but do a few mods to the Xb...

Install:
Very straight forward - easy instructions. It's nice of Tein to include the thread lock and grease (needed to complete the damper assembly). The longest time was spent re-aligning the hood, would suggest another person for assistance, I did this myself and was not too difficult, but another person would definitely assist w/alignment.

Summary:
Looks great, great fitment - a cool mod for people who know about Tein and enjoy these little mods.
For $150 - I found the Tein Bonnet Dampers to be a good buy depending upon what you're looking for. A nice quality product from an experienced manufacturer - the Bonnet Dampers are more of a "show" product than anything, but I found them of great use partiularly while cleaning the engine and such. (Hood Rod no longer in the way).

Purchase:
I was NOT satisfied with the customer service from Vitek at Kozz Tuning. Although the price was right, I'd rather pay more and get better service (as is the case with anything IMO) - I just decided to go with this to support a sponsor of Scion Life. After paying via paypal (and adding in the requested 3% fee) - I was told that the dampers would be shipped out with a tracking number. Three days go by and no answer, so I send an e-mail requesting an update. Vitek responds that they were sent out with no tracking! (come on now). So I wait a full week and still no dampers, I have to PM, post and e-mail Vitek to get another response, practically threatening to call the BB Bureau in AZ because of his lack of service...incidentally he claims "We've sent you out ANOTHER set today" - sure, I really believe that one. He never sent out the set the first time...worst aftermarket service ever and I've been modding cars for 10 years now...

and now for Some pics

Too bad about the service.

I don't like the color of the struts, but they look very
sturdy for such a small hood.
Do you have to drill any holes?

Edit:

I forgot to mention...

Hello fellow Rennlister!!

I have a 924S and 914!! I know, butget P-Cars, but still fun!

I don't mind the color much (I believe Green is Tein's signature color) - but I hear what you're saying. Definitely sturdy for a small hood...

I'll see you on rennlist as well! and no P-car is a "budget" P-car - they're all incredible in their own right...(love the 924S by the way)

any drilling or does it line up with pre-cut holes?

No drilling required, uses adapters for the stock hood mounting points.

I know this thread is real old but can anyone tell me what the proper torque is for the bolts that hold the brackets in place on the hood and the other spots?
