Default Tint and night visibility...

I've seen a ton of xB's on here with 5% tint, or close to it..... I LOVE how it looks, but for those of you who have it done: what's the visibility like? Can you even see out of it at night? Seems like it would really affect your night driving.

Thanks,

moore

I have 2 layers of 5% all the way around except for windsheild. I can see out of it at all hours of the day but if it is dark with no street lights I have to roll down the windows. When I had just 1 layer it kind of works the same way. You can see perfect in the day but at night if there isn't much street lights ect, you will have to roll down the window in most occasions like when turning or most important backing up!!

You dont want to run over anyone

I had very dark tinting on the car I had before I got my xB. It was unsafe at night. Loved it during the day, but night? Nope. I won't ever get tinting that dark again. You can't "rolldown" your rear hatch window. Be careful.

That sounds like a good idea for a mod...or atleast an option for 2007.

hmmmm, so what about 5% for the sides and like 15 or so for the rear? that might work.

I have 5% on my back and 20% on the front windows, and like everyone else has said really nice during the day, but when it gets dark and there isn't alot of light around roll down the windows cause it is difficult to see out of them.
But overall i think it was worth it.

Be careful in Cali! Tint laws are strict. I went with 20% hatch and 35% on the side windows. Being darker on the hatch makes the rest of my tC darker all around. Even the 35% looks dark at night. On the plus side, I have no problems seeing out at night. Lucky for me, my gf's dad is a doctor and he gave me a note to put into my glove box that says I'm real sensitive to light and that's why I have my windows tinted. (Score! ) I haven't had to use it yet though.

Just remember that you have to add the present tinting darkness to whatever you are getting to get an accurate percentage number.

I had 10% on the front sides and 20% everywhere else and it looked great and it wasnt that hard to see out of at night. But about a month ago I got a $140 ticket for the front being so dark, so now I have 30%.

Just be careful. When you go by a cop roll your windows down quckly.

After a whole year with it, i was ticketed yesterday for too dark a tint. I have the stock on the rear and about 20% on the front windows. FL law says 28% front. I feel I was "profiled" because of the looks on my PW. Old people in Cadillacs with a lot darker tint get away with it. ***hole cop!

Actually, if you read the California law regarding front window tint, it says that you must have doctor's documentation, which you have... but it ALSO says.. must be removable- so that it can be removed at night....

Cali is really strict, I wish I could go a little darker, but geez. even if I lived in a place that allowed dark tint I wouldn't go that far!!

Double 5% over the factory privacy glass?? Can you even see OUT at all?

I'm in CA and have 20% at the driver passenger door and 5% on all of the back windows. I'm used to driving w/ "limo" tinted windows, but every once ain a while, I have to roll down the window when backing. Mainly when there is hardly any light.

I live in WA state and the law is 35% all around. I am getting 20% all around next week. I see a lot of XB's here with 5% tint. The cops are really not that strict over here with the tints. But on March of 2007 I will be in Orange County CA for one year. Hope i dont get pulled over for the tint.

You will be OK in THE OC if you don't act like an azz. Cops and the Sheriff are pretty cool. Never any problems.
