trunk lock??

Your speaking as if there is a lock thats suppose to go there... there is not lock part number or anything for that its simply an electronic switch that has power when its unocked and no power when its locked.
In order to make a lock work youd need to change the latch mechanism.
Or you could just put a lock that does nothing in there, or even hook it up to a switch that pulses your unlock and lock wire.

A switch could be connected to a lock so that power would be cut off from the door release switch no matter what the position of the door locks. The rear hatch could only be opened if the switch were engaged.

trunk lock
sorry, some might be confused. I was actually doing it for the looks. The lock doesn't have to work. I was just wondering if anybody knew the size of the keyhole or a part number that fits directly in the hole. There was a topic on this before but nobody knew, so i thought i should bring it back up

i have been asking this question for it seems like forever now and i guess nobody owns that car in the pic or nobody else has taken the time to do it..... i have been searching for a lock that i like for mine for months now and still have not found the right one for my taste

Donovan and I went over this in some PMs a while back. I found my response:
If anybody wants an actual Toyota lock for theirs, I'll stand by that pricing. Just an option if you want to do the electric switch idea or whatever.

Okay Donovan,
Your savior will be the 1989 Camry rear trunk cylinder. Should fit just about perfectly in the xB's wiper hole.
Here's the catch: I wasn't off in my pricing. That would be $40 for the cylinder and another $3.50 for the retainer (you'll need that) and those are your wholesale prices from me. The good news is that those come with keys (I know, not much of a silver lining, but it's all I got!).
So, if you want to spend the cash, hit me up man!

The guy who owns the car is EddieG from the Desert & Salt forum. I don't think he'll mind answering any questions you might have concerning it. If he does mind, tell him he could hate me for donating information:-)

The one I ended up going with is the Borg Warner DLK-5 door lock kit for GM cars. I found it on ebay, looks like it was new old stock maybe form the late 80's. It came with the little back plate that wedges it it there and a clear grommet rather than black, which is cool. I'm sure there are probably more low-profile options available now, but this worked pretty well... here's some pix (a little fuzzy, sorry...)

In Ca (the naziest veicle code state in the country) red lights in the rear are perfectly legal.

If I would have found the right lock in time I could have saved some money, but the car was going into the shop for some other repairs, so I just paid extra to shave the hatch.
Good luck on finding the lock, post some pics when it's all done.
Peace
