Default $500 deposit?

I was told that you have to put a $500 deposit down when ordering a Scion xb. Do they give you the $500 back when the car arrives? Or do they keep it?

Your choice. You can either get it back or they can apply it to the purchase. Basically what they do is just hold your credit card number so they know you're serious, they never even charged mine.

That would be an excellent qustion to ask your dealer! The $500 is applied to the purchase price of the car or refunded to you if you don't want to put any cash down. Some dealerships require larger or smaller deposits, the best thing to do is ask your dealer wheat their policy is on deposits. Make sure that the deposit is refundable if you back out.

Did you write them a check or did they charge your credit card? I just spent a bunch of $$$ fixing my other car so I'm kinda tapped out until next week. I was just wondering if they hold the check or if they actually cash it? I dont want to give them a bum check.

Some dealers charge a deposit when ordering a vehicle to make sure you are committed to buying it when it arrives. Everything the other posters said goes as well as: Don't forget to get a firm price on the xb IN WRITING before you put the cash down. That will make sure you and the dealer agree on the purchase price before it arrives.

I dont even know if I'll get approved with the financing. I'm crossing my fingers. My credit history isnt the best. I've been at the same job now for 6 years and I'm making pretty good money now, so we'll see. I'm using a trade in as my down payment. $1500. They told me they'd call me today. Havnt heard back yet. It's 12:38pm.

I only had to drop $300 to order my scion. That $300 + another $100, when it gets here, will by my downpayment on the thing.

If you put your order in whenever there was more stock than you didn't need to put down a deposit. Now that the xB's are more in demand dealers are going to be asking for deposits. Keep in mind that they are pulling a car out of their inventory espicially for you. And right now there is not a lot of inventory to go around.

That's fine, just as long as I get the $500 back when I buy the thing.

We gave them a $100 cheque. Got it back when the box arrived. They never cashed it. And if we didnt like the box, they would have given us the $$ back.
