Default 06 Stereo Audio Control Question

I want to change the stock stereo in my XB. I want to be able to use the audio controller on the steering wheel. But I cannot find what type it is installed. All I have found is references saying that a PAC SWI-PS adapter MAY be needed. And I read that some are compatible with the stock one already installed.

So does anyone know what controller is already installed? I am hoping it is compatible with other Pioneer stereos, if not I'll get the adapter. Just want to know before I purchase anything.

I have spent hours trying to find a reliable answer to this.

Thanks!

I would love to help but I would not know the answer to the question. I believe the steering wheel controls are only in the 2006.5 xBs so it may be hard to find that answer. Why do you want to replace the stock unit?

you will need the SWI-JACK-PS for the controls to work with an aftermarket deck, well worth the money as I use mine more tan the deck

Because the unit is over 6 years old. The AUX connection always has a buzzing noise in it with any devices connected to the car's power. No built in blue tooth. The only way it plays MP3s is either an external MP3 player or off the CD.

I had a rental car that had an awesome stereo with blue tooth, satellite, MP3s could be loaded by DVD or USB flash drive. It was a POS Kia with a great stereo.

That's what I thought. I wanted to know before I purchased one. Thanks!
