Default '06 xB remote unlock fail

I went out the other day to take Stubby to work, clicked the clicker to unlock, and nothing happened. I didn't panic; I remembered how to unlock it with the key . . . and then I got a new battery for the clicker (it was the original battery), but that didn't solve the problem, and my wife's clicker also didn't work.

I checked all the fuses, and they're intact, so it seems likely that the problem is with the car's remote receiver, wherever that is. I did a search on Scionlife for similar problems but didn't find anything.

Anything I can try before taking Stubby in to the dealer and throwing money at the problem?

Look at this thread:

It sounds like the Front Door Lock Actuator has to be replaced.

The part itself is about $100.

Pooder,

Did you only push the remote transmitter once to unlock the driver front door, or twice to unlock all doors? If only once, it might be the driver front door actuator, as NYCxB says. If none of the doors unlock, then you need to check the wireless door lock control. It's described in the '04 repair manual, page 73-9. Do a search on this site and download the manual if you don't have it.

I tried once, and then twice, and then a whole bunch of times. Nothing. Same with my wife's xB clicker. I'll look in the manual . . . .

So . . . I didn't get anywhere with diagnostics (and didn't really have the time to fiddle with it) . . . and I called and made an appointment to have the dealer techs look at it. I thought it would be a good idea to have my wife's clicker there too, and that's when I realized that the clicker I had been trying was actually the one that I had run through the snowblower a few years ago and had never put back into service. I found the clicker that actually was supposed to work, and . . . it did.

User error.

I called the dealer and cancelled the appointment and I'm glad I saved the embarrassment (and cost ;^) of having them tell me there's nothing wrong!

Next step is to get the spare clicker working too; I have the directions, but finding the time will still be an issue. Thanx for the suggestions, guys . . . .
