Default 2006 xB windshield replacement/reimbursement settlement

I received a letter today from a settlement administrator regarding the windshield on 2006 Scion XB. It appears the settlement covers ONLY 2006 models. Go to www . xbwindshieldsettlement (dot)com for info. Apparently if the windshield is cracked, Toyota will replace it. If you've had one replaced you can be reimbursed with proper documentation.

Again, from what I've read, it only covers 2006 model year.

Take care,
Glen

Sweet, if I get a crack, I will definitely be checking it out. Luckily my shield is clear as day!

Is that w/ or w/out chips ? My windsheild is a goner . It has chips and are those going to void the recall ? The chips lead to cracks and when it chipped the cracks grew like weeds . Could the faster cracking be why they are recalling them ? Yes it is an 06 . Should I get it replaced and bring them the bill or go up there w/chips and all ?

What is the difference between the 05 and 06 windshields? Nothing. With the success of the 06 settlement, should be a cake walk for an attorney to get the same for 05's and 04's.

Hi. Got my letter and called the local Toyota Dealership and they were saying they had no idea what I was talking about and there was no settlement. Whatevs. I'm curious if anyone's actually taken it in to get fixed yet or if you've heard of anyone doing it. I have a crack on my 2006. I read the settlement website a little more closely and it says they have the right to inspect it and see that it wasn't obviously cracked by an object. Curious if they really will tell people, "No, sorry, yours was obviously cracked by something else, not a defect." and if so, how to best handle it.

BTW, I've got 47k on mine. Bought it used from Toyota at 17K in 2007. What can I say? Bay Area.

Yeah, that ain't right Spiderbradman...BO is BO whatever the milage. I just turned 50k but I also go me a bad a*s lowrider cruiser bike, '04 with 65k so I got an excuse. Anyway, the letter I got allows me to replace the windscreen (that's what they call 'em in England! Go figure)(that was stupid but I'm leaving it in!) in the future by substantial months. 8 or 9 months from now! Looking forward to hearing more about this. Trouble with replacing windsheilds is that they are rarely waterproof 100% after the original one (and the dealer here is a rip-off anyway). I may just take my chances and do it thru insurance if and when!

if they pull this on me, i will just take it somewhere else, have the windshield replaced, and then do the other option in the settlement where they pay for one windshield already replaced.

Bumping this up. I took mine into the dealership with the letter that I received about the class action suit.

They're replacing the windshield tomorrow, under the newly extended 60k warranty.

And mine was very obviously hit by a rock, the service writer even said, "man you really got whacked, huh?"

You're so lucky it was a '06.

I have a '05 with the classic crack that came from no where and I'm not covered. I guess I'll have to wait for the "big one", stone chip that is, and pay for a new windshield out of my pocket.

I got the lawsuit letter, and the crack, some years back and was really bummed to find out it only covered the '06. I waited so long.........

Back when I was posting here drumming up interest in the lawsuit, I had no idea that so few '05 owners would respond that it would end up only covering '06. With the responses from the Scion community, the class action firm could only make a case for the '06. It would have been a larger lawsuit, protected more owners, and the firm could have made more money, if it could have covered the '05.
