If anyone can help me with this...........I have had my XB for about three weeks now and I am geting about 22 miles to the gallon. I know I should be getting around 30. I called the dealership and they said my MPG would get beter the longer I drive the car. Did anyone else experience this when you first got your XB. Will my MPG improve overtime?????????? Thank!

 

maybe the car isn't completly broken-in yet

 

During the breakin period (100 - 3K miles) I experienced more miles from each tank, 23 mpg on the first until I reached about 30 and 35 on long freeway trips. Now that I have a header I haven't taken the time to figure my mileage, just having a blast driving the thing.

 

i got 15,000 mile and the gas mileage has improve alot,i did had the same problem when i first got my box the gas milage suck,kinda make me wish i didn't trade my honda civic, but as the months went by i saw better improvement,just give it some time to break in you should see a differenence..

 

I just got mine and I'm getting around 25 mph right now(frist tank of gas). If it gets better thats awesome.

 

my car has 30000 and I'm getting about 28 mpg, but I do between 55-80 miles a hour.

 

My RS2.0 xB has about 6700 miles on it and I go from DC to Philly every weekend and I average about 36 to 38 miles per gallon

 

I doubt you'll see a significant difference as the miles roll on. I haven't anyway. But then, I've not gotten less than 35mpg out of any tank in 16,000+ miles so far.

 

at what speed are you all driving at??

 

I've had my 05 XB for 3 months now and I average 32 mpg with mostly highway and some stop and go rush hour. The first few tanks were much less. It's an automatic with 2500 miles on the clock now.

 

I have over 20,000 miles on mine, and I have always gotten right around 30mpg

 

I have an '04 with 22K, auto trans and I got 33 mpg last week. :D

 

For the first few fill ups, I was getting only 25MPG.

After about 1100 miles, I was hitting 33MPG.

After I put big 17" chrome wheels with wide low profile tires
on, I'm getting between 27-29MPG depending on traffic and
how I'm driving.

 

Same here, 27-28 mpg and I average 75-80 on my 40 daily miles on the 355 raceway to work and back. I'm sure if I was safer and slower I could hit 30+ no problem.

 

4100 miles, 70% highway driving, and I'm getting about 30-32 mpg w/18-inch wheels.

 

If you are really going overboard on constantly varying the speed during the break-in period, that can really hurt fuel consumption. So can accelerating too hard, driving with the windows open at highway speeds, having your tires severely underinflated, carrying things on the roof, carrying 500 pounds of cargo, etc.

I just passed 1000 miles. On my first three tanks I got 25, 27, and 30mpg. Most of my driving is city/suburban, no long highway trips.

i started around 25mpg, but now I'm consistently around 29mpg and it would probably be even better if i drove like i have some sense. i know driving 80mph and gunning it from a dead start aren't helping.

 

I've had my xB for 1,600 miles now and I've never had better than 30 mpg. Worse was 28mpg.

That's with a stock xB automatic and easy driving.

 

05 Auto @ 15k Miles / Im getting an avg of 35mpg

 

On my first tank I figure I was getting around 30 miles a gallon. I still had a quarter of a tank before the light would have come on. Damn snazzy if ya' ask me, specially since I am so used to a Mustang gettin 18 to 20 miles a gallon.
