Default 7 year/100,000 mile warranty

How many of you guys got this warranty? Have you used it? Do you think it is worth the $1100.00?

I am getting ready to go to the final stage, pick up, my wifes xB. And am torn between getting the warranty or not. She will go the full 7 years without going over the millage.

Anyone?

Thanks,

Rich

Well, for $225 less, you could just cover it for 7yrs/75000 miles.
I'm getting the platinum protection for my xB... even if I don't break even, it's still a relief to know that I have it. My dad bought a new ford pickup a couple years ago, and he's had loads of problems. I know we're comparing apples to oranges, but I still like the peace of mind that the protection offers.

I wouldn't buy it. There's a reason i buy Toyotas in the first place and that's for their reliability. You've got to read the fine print too, many of those warranties have strict guidelines and loopholes to get them out of covering as much as they can.

I purchased the 7 yr/100,000. Have heard that it is not a good financial deal, but I like knowing I will not have any large repair bills for 7 yrs. That makes it two more years after it is paid off.

I took the 7 yr/75000 Hate taking them as they tend to be a bad value, but better safe than sorry!! Yes its a toyota, be=ut never know when ya get a lemon. One doresnt have to get it through toyotya either. Our credit union offered it as well as GEICO insurance. Not sure how it relates to the toyota coverage.

I went with the 6/100,000. I wouldn't buy a new car without a 100,000 warranty. I had a 2 Jeeps before my xB, a 99 Wrangler and an 01 Cherokee, both lifted and all that. The warranty pretty much saved my butt more than once. It is WELL worth every penny once you see a bill for $2,000 + for some major repairs.

We bought the 75k Platinum plan; we didn't buy the car for long trips and I doubt we'll come close to 75k miles before the 7 years are up.

I never would have bought an extended warranty, never have before, but for some reason DW wanted it this time and I never argue when she wants to spend money.

Not saying the extended warranties are good or bad but they rank right up there with undercoating and paint protection as a dealrers high profit margin items. And the price on them is VERY negotiable!!!

I got the 7 yr 100K and mine covers EVERYTHING except belts hoses and general maintenance. My deduct. is only 100.00 for anything major. Tranny dies, 100 bucks, ac gives up, 100 bucks. Also my coverage will give me a FREE rental car if my xB is in the shop for more than 1 hour. Lots and lots of perks. I think mine was worth it for the piece of mind......

i bought a certified scion xb with lowering springs and axle back already installed. scion throws in 7yrs/100K warranty for free. i did not buy any extended or extra warranty. my '90 toyota pick up went 280,000 k with no problem. i hope my xb
will do the same.

I usually do not buy extended warrantys, but after reading the flyer I think it covers most everything with a zero deductable.

I did not know that you could haggle over the cost, has anyone eve gotten it cheaper than $1100.00 from the dealer?

Thanks.

I also purchased the 7 years/100,000 miles for $1100. $0 deductable is very nice, and I have the piece of mind. It was worth it to me.

I didnt bother with it. I figure IF something major goes wrong with it after the 3yr/36000 mile that came with it. imo the most expensive fix would be motor replacement, and you can find a used one for a couple hundred +\- dollars at a local junkyards from an echo.
Or better yet use the oportunity to swawp in something bigger

Any new thoughts/comments on the extended warranty? I am trying to decide if I should get one. I am leaning towards no (after reading a few threads) but am still not 100% sure. As far as the GAP insurance...I got mine throuhg my car insurance for a whooping $16 extra a year! Much better than the $300 - $600 offered by Scion.

Those of you who have higher mileage...any major problems??

I got it with my xB, but not sure what it cost as it was in with all the other finance stuff. I gave them a $$$ amount and they hit it.

Would rather have it an not need than be on the other side IMHO.. Been on the other end of the stick, so to speak, not fun!! It was not a yota either....eeeewwwwwww

It is a piece-of-mind thing. Chances are, like it has been said, you won't need it. However, in my position, i Financed that protection because I could ill-afford having one of the few toyotas you'd actually need it for. So blah.

Oh, as an afterthought, I got the Toyota Extra Care extended warrenty, which IMO and my fathers opinion, was a much better buy than whatever the dealer offers.

I did the 7yrs/75000 miles just so it's covered the whole time it's financed. Besides.....the main benefit for me of owning a new car is not having to worry about what expensive thing is gonna go wrong next.
