Aftermarket L.E.D. Tails
I was trolling thru my bro's Truckin' mag and one of the ads was for these awsome L.E.D. tailights from this company called PartsNgo (www.partsngo.com). Long story short, I contacted Jeffrey Tavares there and he said they planned on making them for the xB in about 2 months or so. Here's what some of their other L.E.D. tails look like: http://www.partsngo.com/newproducts.html. Passing it on...
I work for my father who happens to own an auto repair garage. As his service writer I get magazines like Import parts & accessories. When I was flipping through one the other day I saw an aftermarket company called IPCW, they make a set of L.E.D. tail lights for the xB. I went searching for them on the internet and came up with nothing. I do however have a picture of them from the magazine. I'll see if I can get them posted one of these days.
The link for IPCW is on the PartsNgo website. Somewhere on the bottom middle of the main page... wait... http://www.ipcw.com/ I don't see the Scions on there at all (not even under Toyota). Maybe they are slow to update the website.
The other tails they make come in chrome, black and smoked. I like the black. But I'd do smoked, too. No chrome, though. I wonder how much electrical reworking is involved with these? Its not like Altezzas where you just plug the old bulbs in a new tail light. Anyone have a clue?
I e-mailed Jeff again showing him a link to this thread (and the main site) so he can see the interest in the tails. I also asked if they plan to offer them smoked. We'll see when I get home tonite what he says. I hope they offer a 'normal-ish' red version, smoked version or others, but I don't think so. It seems that on all their lights they only do a smoked or chrome. I'll keep ya'll informed.
From Jeffrey @ Partsngo:
"Installation should be the same as others that we are currently selling, like Altima. Just plug and play. Right now we only know there is a Chrome housing coming out. If I find out other than Chrome, I will let you know."
On the other hand, those LED bB tail lamps are going for about $750 dollars... so if you think it's worth it, go for it. I was going to get them, but I've decided that buying a stock housing for $50 and spending about $100 in parts to make my own LED tail lamps would be much cheaper.
