Default All Wheel Drive

What are the chances of the Xb being produced with all wheel drive in the future? Has anyone heard any rumors that it may be a possibliity? I did a search before posting but couldn't find anything on this other than the Bb model in Japan has all wheel drive.

All wheel drive is expensive to make. Plus why would the xb need an all wheel drive? It doesnt put down the power for all wheel drive to be used to its potential.

Typhoon, all wheel drive has already been done on xBs...just not in the U.S.A. Some of Japan's Toyota bBs are all-wheel drive turboed vehicles. All they really have to do is rebadge the bBs to a xB, and BAM it's done. I highly doubt that it will happen anytime soon here in the U.S.A. Mostly because they are changing the body style of the bB in Japan, so I am sure there will no longer be any xBs made for the U.S.A. The new bB is probably going to be one of Scion's new vehicles, but with a new name for the U.S. market.

I'm asking from an old man who drives on snow packed roads perspective. Safety and the ability to throw the ski's in and head up to VT for the weekend are on my mind, not performance. I do see your point, however, if the performance aspect of AWD is what you're after.

Oh, and I'm not worried about the price for AWD. I would gladly pay for it.

how about this line of thinking though. the awdf would make the slow xb even slower. as in possibly borderline unsafe getting onto freeways.

I want All-Wheel drive too, for the snow aspect.
I would gladly give up speed and 10% fuel mileage for all wheel drive though with 4 snow tires my XB goes great in the snow!

Ideally, having a front wheel drive Xb with a button that put it into AWD would be awesome. That way you'd save on mileage and wear and tear on the tires.
