Default Anyone have xB Safety Report?

Hello all,

We are just about to get an xB, but are having trouble finding any safety reports. Some say -- the Toyota salesman, as well as some posts here -- that the xB has gotten "4 our of 5" according to the NHTSA. I can't find any evidence of it on their site, though. (www.nhtsa.dot.gov)

AAA and Parents' magazine recommend the xB as one their picks in the Economy Class, but they don't specify why, other than price and roominess.

If anyone could direct me to some statistics or safety rating, I'd be grateful.

Thanks,
DB

Default It's Toyota...

It's Toyota dude... safety shouldn't be a question, but then again, safety rating could put one thing in ur mind, then a F350 running a red could put something else in ur mind about safety.. so ide say if ur a safe driver and always watchout for the other guy, ude be buying a really nice car love mine to death and its only been the first 10 hrs, haha

I wish I could help you. I have not seen any safety ratings for the xB anywhere. But also keep in mind that a Scion is a Toyota, and Toyota's have always recived high scores for dependability and safety. So any reviews you can find on Toyota™ in general would give you an idea of how safe their cars are. There was a crash test video posted a few months ago, but it will take me a while to find it.

The NHTSA has no information on the car either. But safty is not a huge problem at all like I mention before with Toyota's. Besides, I have not herd of anyone actually getting in a fatal car crash in a Scion.. :?

Ah, I see you found my old posts.
Cool! It saves me the trouble of looking them up again.

Here is another link with data for the xA. I haven't seen any data for the xB yet either.

http://www.nhtsa.gov/NCAP/Cars/3177.html

Note, that even though the xA has available side airbags, the test performed was on a vehicle that was not equipped with them. I would imagine that the xB would score similarly to the xA from this test.

Default Thanks for your replies

We appreciate all the information, ya'll. We're getting the xB today...

...so has anyone installed the aftermarket arm-rests? It looks like there are a few manufacturers -- anyone have a favorite or horror story?

Thanks,
DB

Most with the Boomerang seem very satisfied.

Someone on this site has an avatar showing an xB in a crash test. I can't remember who it was, but its a cool avatar, and there must have been a crash test somewhere for the xB for him to get that avatar.

I know someone who was involved in a car accident and passed away. He was in an XB. However, the other car was going pretty fast, which most cars won't survive anyways.
