I am part of a Marketing class at North Central College in Naperville Illinois doing a consumer behavior project on why consumers purchase Scion automobiles. Please help us understand why.

How did you find out about the ability to customize your own car through Scion?
no through scionlife, it showed me the car i wanted and how to do what i wanted to do to it
Do sales reps make it a sales point? In other words, did they offer it up as a possibility when you were shopping for the car?
my sales rep could barely speak english and tried to get me to upgrade to a 6 cylander and didnt know any of the waranty info, he was no help at all

The xB is a unique vehicle, yet Toyota/Scion made if very possible to customized at the dealership. Even if you bought bone stock, customization are so easy to customize plus there are now alot of afermarket product to choose.
How did you find out about the ability to customize your own car through Scion?
Product brochures, Dealership, and of course TV commercials advertising Scions.
Do sales reps make it a sales point? In other words, did they offer it up as a possibility when you were shopping for the car?
Yes.
What other vehicles did you consider before purchasing Scion?
Mistubishi Lancer Raliart or Mazda 3, but the price range of the xB is more affordable.
Have you bought any other customized products? If so, what were they?
Well, Rims were the first choice. Bought them outside the dealership (alway cheaper). Change the Stereo Head Unit and added subs. Simple mods. Also bought a strut tower (Outside Dealership as well).

First and only car... but in general and compared to the cars of my friends, yes.
How did you find out about the ability to customize your own car through Scion?
I already knew I was going to do something in terms of mods. ScionLife was what showed me some of the easiest ways and gave me ideas.
Do sales reps make it a sales point? In other words, did they offer it up as a possibility when you were shopping for the car?
He did make a lot of mention of how easily things were customizable, but I had already done my research on Scion so he kind of backed off on the sales pitching realizing that the only reason i wouldn't get it is if i couldn't convince my parents.
What other vehicles did you consider before purchasing Scion?
Used Mini Cooper S for same price (17-18k) if not that.. i didnt really care (some kind of smaller car/truck/suv)
Have you bought any other customized products? If so, what were they?
Rims, LED's, Intake... (planning on turbo, subs/amps/mids, springs/struts...)

Yes they are but I would never choose to customize from Scion because the cost will be more than to go for aftermarket. Parts are very easily obtainable and most are direct bolt on.

Do sales reps make it a sales point? In other words, did they offer it up as a possibility when you were shopping for the car? When I purchased mine they actually didn't bring up the aftermarket accessories at all...I had to ask. My sales associate didn't even know anything about the Scions...when I asked what size engine it had in it he told me a V6...
What other vehicles did you consider before purchasing Scion? Volkswagen GTI, Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution (not even close to being in the same category as the xB...but one wreckless ticket later and all that changed..I needed something slow)
Have you bought any other customized products? If so, what were they? Yes, a lot: wheels and tires, lowering springs, strut bar, sway bar, tail lights, and window tint
