im and mr2 owner but ive bought the xb for its functionability as well as the fact its good on gas. if you want a quick car, buy a quick car. have you noticed the xb/xa is so good on gas because of its engine size? maybe its that way for a reason.

A car doesn't have to be a "race car" to have fun racing it. Autocrossing is an affordable, accessible way for common schmoes to have fun driving their common cars in competition without spending their equivalent of a year's salary. A lot of the members here are in their teens and early 20s, and for many this is their first or only car. Who's to say they shouldn't be able to take what they've got and go have some fun??? No one's stated here that they're going to thrash every WRX STI and Ferrari at the event.
And to challenge your statements, I think you'd be pretty surprised at what a set of springs, shocks, sway bars and sticky tires will do for this car's handling. I've certainly embarrassed several "more impressive" cars in nearby canyons myself in my xB - from a Mini to a vintage Austin-Healey roadster to a Mustang GT.
could'nt have said it better myself Boxoffice! The people here are in fact real nice and classy from what i can tell so far, not many haters :ahhghem!:. All i have so far is s tech springs soon to be a rear sway bar i want to see how well this thing will corner, which my guess is will be great.I plan on building it to outhandle my and all my friends' 200 plus HP Hondas, lol. Surprise some people like truen, haha!
I race Class 11 (Off-road)... Some people may say "A 1973 VW Bug isn't going to survive a 1000mile off-road race in Mexico" and they are probably the same ones saying "Scions shouldn't be raced". To that I say, if it has wheels, there should be a race for it... be it a barstool, lawnmower, or grocery store scooter.
Any jack-hole can go out and buy a STi and call themselves a racer, but racing should be about skill and not equipment. Personally, I think it is more fun to finish in the middle of the pack, seconds behind the winner and seconds ahead of the loser, than it is to spend a god awful amount of money and smoke the field.
Unless you are getting paid to win, you should be out there to gain knowledge, make friends, and have fun.

Yeah, im with boxoffice and xbigjefe...having fun racing is whats important reguardless of what u drive. Besides, i think people would have respect for someone who made their scion noticeably faster just for the fact they went with what they liked and aren't one of the billions of people with a tuned honda/acura.
