My dad liked the xB for the amount of room, good gas mileage and its cheap. He didnt buy one because he didnt need a new car but if its still around in a few years I bet he would go check it out again.

Just turned 46 on Christmas Eve, bought mine a month ago as a toy. It's number three along with a 97 Pontiac Grand Prix and a 92 Chevy S-10 Blazer with 260,000 miles on it. I can mod the xB without spending a lot of cash and it's a blast to drive. I talked to a guy who transfered here from the Toyota offices in Japan. He said that the xB was aimed for a younger crowd but they are extremely happy that older people are buying it. The "middle aged" crowd refered to here in this post have the disposable income to afford the mods. I also work as a DJ at a radio station and since seeing my xB they are going to purchase a few for station events, wrapping them with our logo.

Not getting older, just getting better.

You hit the nail on the head. I have a pdf file from Toyota/Scion with more demographic information. When you look at median age of "primary driver" as opposed to "purchaser", things look a lot different, at least with the tC. Median age of the entire product line goes down to 31 for all models. Its 25 for the tC and 39 for the xA and xB.

Here is a cut and paste of the table. It doesn't paste over very well, but the numbers listed are in order of total model, tC, xA and xB. For instance, under percentage of male drivers, 41.4% of xA drivers are male.

Total tC xA xB
Median Age 31 25 39 39
Median Income 60,000 55,000 60,000 60,000
% Male 50.9% 52.8% 41.4% 53.3%
% College Grad or
Higher 46.3% 43.4% 52.8% 46.6%
% Under 35 56.0% 73.1% 43.0% 41.6%

I bought mine for a toy, I usually get something every couple years.
When I got the bug this time there wasn't anything I wanted to get rid of so I just bought it outright.
I don't have much $$$ in it, I won allot of stuff and the sunroof was free because of a screw-up.
I never thought I'd drive it as much as I do, I've been driving the truck the last few days and miss the box.
I tentatively see the Blitz blower in the future for the box...
