Default Body Decals

I would like to no if body decals would hurt paint over time or get a tan effect when removed, also are these decals worth the money.

Thanks

it's an interesting question, what w/ the cheap paint and all. that's why I have my graphics on the glass and have the box debadged.

it depends on how well you keep up the finish, how often it's in the sun, if you wash w/ hard water, how dark your paint is, etc...

I know Hawaiianbuilt has had many different stripe configurations. I don't know how long he's left the vinyl on, but his car looks great. I'm sure he keeps the finish up also.

I asked the same question in a previous forum.

Is it easy to take off the graphics without doing any damage to your car paint job?

Come off easy most of the time if they were made with quality vinyl. Sometimes a hair drier will help if they have become brittle with age. My first set was only on for 6 months and came off without problems.

over many years and neglect of your paint you paint will fade if you don't keep up with the washings, if you do keep the car washed you should be fine unless the decal starts to get old frail and cracked

definitely don't use the "economy" vinyl. it won't necessarily mess up your paint, but the process of trying to get it off after a year or so, will more then likely damage the clear coat. unless you have a tremendous amount of patience. my fav is oracal's 751.

Over the years I've had 4 different vinyls with zero lasting effects. If you keep it garaged regularly and waxed the paint will not fade around the vinyl. The key is not leaving the same one on for too long.
If it's an outside car the paint will prolly not stand a chance.

Def. will. I just gotta come up with a layout and decide what I want. The ones I have are about a year old.

While washing helps, it's really the waxing of the paint that helps keep it from fading by protecting it from the elements!

as long as you use a high quality vinyl you will not mess anything up.....just keep the car cleaned regularly. I have changed my graphics at least 6 times since ive had the car not to mention random little things here and there and you wuld never know it.
Oracal is the brand i use the most either 851 or 751 series. if yo start gettinginto the more cheap economy vinyls you could run into issues

You'll know how well you kept it waxed only when the time comes to take the vinyl off. You will see a faint wax line around the edge. Just limit the time they are left on the paint and out in the sun.
