At 67k the water pump locked up, lost the belt, coasted to side of the road.
i bought this car new in 06 and pamper it in every way i can, and this is how it repays me..

look on the bright side it could have been way worse. a water pump is pretty easy.
unlike most toyota's on this site which seem bullet proof. i have had to replace the cat and the fuel pump and i only had 23k on it when the cat went out, and 46k on it when the fuel pump gave.
sometimes its just not our day...anyways hope you can fix it soon and sorry to hear that your having troubles..

Its not that big a deal. Its something little. Your car will be back and running fine in no time. These things happen. No matter how good something is one is bound to have issues. Plus with so many parts mass produced you gotta expect these things to happen sometimes. There was nothing you coulda done to prevent it.

my DIY: this is what i did it was much easier to take the ac comp off and work from the bottom than to remove the alternator and get to everything from the top.
about an hour job. this is just my diy im not responsible for your issues
1. drain fluid from radiator
2. jack right side up
3. remove pass side splash guard
4. remove 4 bolts holding ac compressor and move it out of way
5. remove the 3 bolts and 2 nuts holding pump on (pulley was broke off already) otherwise remove three bolts holding it to the pump
6. get a pan ready to catch the remaining coolant from motor. if you just pull it off your going to get soaked so just pull off put on pull off put on to slow the mess
7. clean up the area for the new gasket and rtv (red) be sure to get it good and dry
8. put rtv on new pump let it set up a little put new gasket on put rtv on the side that will meet the motor and let it set up a bit
9. take jack handle and have a buddy use it to pry the motor to the about 1/2 inch
driver-side
10. while the motor is being moved over a bit put the new pump on the two studs on the bottom being very careful not to mess up your sealant. once that is done let your buddy relax and not drop the jack handle on you
11. proceed to put the remaining bolts on the pump make sure you cross tighten the bolts and nuts so not to warp it or mess up the seal, do not go full tight on them yet get them snug and let the rtv set up for about 5 min, after that you can go on with torquing them to spec
12. put the ac compressor back on with the 4 bolts
13. let the sealant set up, start routing your belt reservoir get it tight using the alternator adjustment get all that tight again
14. add your coolant into the radiator, fill the to half, start car, top off radiator and let all bubbles out then put cap on tight let it run with the heat on inside let the car get warm around 185 coolant temp if you have scanguage and shut it off
15. put splash guard back on lower car check radiator fluid in the reservoir look for leaks. and your done
