Default Buying a used first gen xB

hey guys its been a long time since i posted here. stupid real life

anyways.... i convinced my gf's sis to get an 05 xB (though all i did was drive up to the house :p), but if she gets one she wants it to have a custom paint job (purple/silver i think are the colors she wants). Now the problem is she can only spend 10k, so i was wondering first how much a paint job costs (i've always wanted to get one but never could get close to saving for it so never looked into it) i'm guessing between $1,500 and $2,000. so if that is the case i need to find a used first gen xB for 8k. Which is my second question how little millage could i find for that price?

summery:
how much is a paint job?
how much millage can i find on an first gen xB for $8,000?

thanks for any help guys!

yah i understand that her budget is light, but its her first car and its her mom paying for it. but i was able to find someone in the area to paint it for the price rage i'm looking for.

but now looking at the used xbs, everyone of them with millage on them cost more then the brand spankin new ones! WTF IS THAT?!

Honestly just chesk out craigslist man. I'm sure there's a couple xb's for sale in your area. You should be able to find an 04 or 05 with less than 60k on the odometer for about $8k

my 2005 with 69000 miles on it was bought for around 10,700 and that was at a dealership and the 10,700 was out the door. though it was on the lot for 12 grand.. that is a bit steep.

i found some on autotrader when i was looking for the xb, they were all around 9 to 10 grand but some of the mileage was up there in the 80 thou.

What if she found a silver one and used vinyl to complete her vision? That would be more cost effective, and reversible.

it would be cheaper.. but you get what you pay for, i wouldnt want vinyl on my car, it just doesnt look as good in my opinion.. but if she likes it then do it. as long as she likes it then who cares.. its hers not anyone elses ya know.

and as for reversing it, depending on how long it was on, i would think that there may be some differences in the look of the paint where the vinyl was. maybe she can get the car and then save up and get a paint/vinyl job done

Sounds like she first needs to find a nice low mile xB for her 10K budget. Then later worry about painting it whatever color she wants when the aditional funds are there. xB prices are not going much lower than 10K even with high miles.

Yup. Decide if she wants an xB or a silver and purple ride more. Get a good xB and save for paint, or get a cheaper ride and have it sprayed. They do show up on ebay lots though; matter of fact, there are SEVERAL up now that would come in less than her 10K budget giving her a nice start on savings for the paint job.

The cars are new enough that it would be no big deal to fly out to get it (if out of your area) and drive it home. You can even sign up at eloan and do the financing. Then, you can just write the seller a check for whatever the amount is easy peasy. That's how we bought our second one. I had ELoan approval for 15K and just wrote the dealership an $8500 check. Simple.

Agreed, I had to fly to get mine, none were worth the time or $$ around here, 750 mile drive home. Funny thing is I flew there, and got back home the same day. 20 mins more and it would have been past midnight and would have been a different day ..

Yah I just bought my '05 at a dealer in Denver for 10,400.
It had 71k miles, but looks and runs very nice.
Just a few very small cosmetic flaws on the body.
I like it a ton, now I'm trying to hypermile my MPG's.
