anybody know if its legal to do that?? just the top part. of the xb.. really considering this but im not sure if its legal or not. Anybody done this on an xB? sure would like to see it done.
heres some chrome cars

heres some chrome cars

i when i was thinking about doing some parts in that chrome paint from Alsa corp. alot of painters here on the island had a hard time making it pop like those cars, due that no one here on the island has a down draft booth to spray in... just make sure you have a bad a$$ painter that knows what he's doing and you'll be okay if could do it i would kinda follow the same on the inside of the car as well... but i don't think it would be legal i've seen alot of old school cars back in the day with those chrome side molds for the doors and what not... shoots!
somebody did it to an E46 M3, if i can find the pics again ill post it...im sure someone's gonna beat me to it though, i dont think its illegal its just a little offensive to the other drivers, but whatever, your definitely gonna get noticed

It's only paint. How could it be illegal. Look at those huge big truck bumpers and those big semi reefer trailers all in polished aluminum. Those are way larger than a little box.

There was one model year of the Ford Escort that had a reflector running along the entire trunk, if the sun hit that right, all you saw was red, it was super bad.
It could be really, really cool, but I wouldn't want to clean it.

Aluminum won't rust, but it will oxidize over time, losing its lustre. Giving it a brushed finish would help, but even that will get dull after a while. I haven't heard of any kind of "sealing" finish that can be done to ally to keep it shiny for that kind of application.
