Cruise Control = Huge Boosts in MPG...Remarkable
Check out my fuel up history and the horrible MPGs. http://www.fuelly.com/driver/ajcadoo/xb
My last fill-up yesterday gave me an astonishing 36.5MPG!!!! Highest on record in my car. It was my first full road trip with the cruise installed.
I went from San Diego to Valencia and back to San Diego all on one tank. I was averaging about 80MPH on the way up with about 30 minutes of severe traffic. Averaged about 65MPH on the way back with no traffic.
366 miles with 10 gallons of gas. Not bad at all considering I was traveling relatively fast. Very happy with this cruise, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for some MPG boosts.

Excellent, but there's probably some fill error. According to my Ultragauge and Scangauge, I only get 32 mpg at 70 mph. Go slow if you want good fuel economy. You're off to a good start with CC and UG. Keep it up!
Yeah I did notice some weird things with the UG. Here were my UG stats for the same fillup:
Trip Run Time: 7Hrs 53Mins
Trip Avg MPH: 46.3MPH (included about 10% city, 5% idling w/ AC in 90 degree weather, 5% traffic, 80% highway)
Trip Avg G/Hr: 1.33
Trip Avg MPG: 34.8MPG (ACTUAL 36.5)
Trip Fuel Used: 10.5gals. (ACTUAL 10.03)
(I zero my trip gauges for every fillup)
As you can see, the UG was under on the MPG but over on the Fuel Used. When I calibrated the MPG after filling up, the MPG coefficient dipped below 1.0. It has been over 1.0 since owning the UG. I think it is around .96 or .98 now. And yes, I do continually add the gallons used to calibrate a precise MPG. Oh and I did make sure to top off the tank, because I thought that maybe the pump just stopped filling early.
Who knows what the issue is, any ideas sentra?

I don't understand why. I keep my calibration at a standard 1.21 so I won't be disappointed with my fuel economy results.
I have noticed the UG avg mph is way off. If I reset my trip, my initial avg mph starts out at 99 mph, or something oddball like that.

Wow, I have never had mine up that high. Generally it is right near 1.0. Usually about 1.01. Never as high as 1.21. Maybe we have different UG versions? My average MPH is pretty accurate.
Another factor now that I think about it might be the exhaust headers I have installed. It is the one part on my car that actually adds gains and is only noticeable in 4th gear (AT) at highway speeds. It may make the car glide easier with less fuel required....

Oh and I never did the distance calibration. I didn't see the benefit. If I use the odometer to record my MPGs for fuelly.com anyway why must I calibrate the distance? I want it to match my fuelly MPG too.
Probably different UG versions. Mine is software version 1.00, with all the bugs. Accurate calibratiion is something like 1.11 or 1.135 for my xB, but I use 1.21 so I won't be disappointed by the UG estimates.
I P&G all the time. It's possible that messes up the UG calibration math. The UG doesn't register instantaneous mpg on glides (it shows 000), so who knows?

Very interesting, yeah must be the different versions. They update the hardware pretty often. I was browsing their site. Plus its dirt cheap. I wouldnt have thought the equipment would be that cheap.
