Default Cruise control + manual transmission

I've heard that cruise control is gonna be an option on our cars when they're released next month :D If that ends up being true, is there any problem having cruise control on a car with a manual tranny? My friend said that if you're on the road with the cruise control on and decide to push the clutch in that it could really f--- things up?

i had cruise control on my eclipse before, it was 5spd... no problems. was nice for long drives. there's no problem with touching the clutch. touching the brake or clutch disengages the cruise control.

I emailed Deluca Scion and they said that ordering a car would take about 3 days, since they only keep a few on the lot for show, and also because there are new factory options that will be available for the East Coast debut. I'll believe it when I see it, but if it's true that'll be awesome!

Conversation from Scion.com
Doc: I heard that there will be new factory options for the xB when it is released in Feb, on the East coast. Is this true?

Doc: Like Cruise Control

Nicole: Since Southeast Scion and Gulf States Scion are a private distributors, the accessories available in that area may vary slightly from the rest of the US.

Nicole: Virginia is in the Central Atlantic region, which means that they are part of the main distributor.

Nicole: If you are interested in purchasing a Scion outside of your home state, please contact a dealer in a state where Scion is currently available. Any arrangements for delivery will be strictly between you and the dealer, and the dealer may charge an additional fee for transportation. Also, while the dealer may help with out-of-state registration, please check with your state motor vehicle department for specific information and requirements in regard to the registration of an out of state vehicle.

Doc: Is there a way to find out what the Southeast and Gulf states distributer are offering?

Nicole: You would have to contact a dealership in one of these regions.

Nicole: Southeast Scion includes NC, SC, GA, AL, FL

Nicole: Gulf States Scion includes AR, MS, LA, OK, TX

Doc: Cool

Nicole: Let me see if I can locate a specific website...one moment!

Doc: thanks

Nicole: Sorry, I do not see that they have a website for Scion yet!

Nicole: Sorry for the inconvenience!

Nicole: Would you like me to locate some dealers close to you?

Doc: Thats ok
Now I am interested in what I am missing... hey Jason, maybe I should order in North Kakalakey!!!!

no showpaojoe, it is not true...the clutch disengages immediately when pressed [ as long as you get the clutch switch installed ]

i had cruise control installed on my 5 speed xB and no probs

there is a switch on the clutch as well as the brake and it the cruise disengages immediately upon pressing either the clutch or the brake....

and it works great! check out my article here:

I was checking out the Globalcruise site and they even have a model that doesn't need a clutch switch. It hooks into the tach signal and doesn't let the engine overrev.

I had cruise on my old 4-speed Datsun 510 and the clutch was no problem, you just didn't push it in when the cruise was engaged!

LOL... yeah. I had factory CC on my 5 spd Probe. Most people thought I was crazy because it's an "odd option for a manual." It's acutally a very nice option for long trips. I can never think of a time that I had pressed the clutch when the CC was engaged. Normally I would only use CC if it was a trip on the highway and if I had to slow down I'd use the brake (which disengaged the CC).

If you didn't have the CC kill switch installed on the clutch pedal it'd be the same as keeping your foot on the gas and hitting the clutch.

I waswondering the same thing because I never saw it as an option. Im considering selling or trading in my 00 Civic Si for an xA or xB manual but i love the CC that my civic has (its 5spd). Anyone know how low a speed you can set your aftermarket CC? Mine on my civic i think goes as low as 25mph which is nice. (it keeps me from having lead foot in town)
