Just smashed my 06 xB into two deer this morning. Now that the crying is stopped, I am starting to look on the bright side of it. I'm having the body work done when the clain gets going, but I'm now thinking about not letting them use OEM parts for things like bumper cover grill etc. Any one know of any Good mods to fix some of the damage with? Remember I am limited on funds but some after market stuff is usually cheaper than OEM. Oh I am posting pics of damage including one of deer fur that is stuck in between the tire and rim and will not come out.

dude, that sucks!! but it could have been a whole lot worse!! around here i've seen'em end up in the front seat sit'n next to ya kicking!!! but any way ya look at it , it still sucks!

The one deer took off after I hit him. The other wasn't so lucky. He was alive in the road until a Corolla ran him over. I was happy it didn't suffer too long. As far as repairs I am checking out after market grills bumpers headlights etc. etc.

 

alot of the times insurance companies will not give you aftermarket equipment to replace OEM.

That really sucks... But after all this is only steel and plastic, you could have been hurt...!!

Sorry to hear that a XB have been hurt..
Replace broken pieces by OEM...that's what I can suggest.

Just be glad it wasn't an elk...or maybe you should have wished it was an elk and maybe you could have gotten a whole new xB

 

Thankfully we weren't hurt. I was doing anywhere from 45 -50 mph "speed limit". Yeah you can use after market parts. You just have them come do their estimate, write you a check. You can cash it go partying, buy after market, or turn it over to a body shop. I have done this to every vehichle I have owned. I AVG. 3 accidents a year. This is the first deer or my fault. Progressive insurance ONLY uses aftermarket parts unless there are none available actually. Fender and etc yeah i'll have the body shop order OEM but some customized bumpers and headlights wont hurt.
