door locks
Is there a way to hook up the interior door handle so that it unlocks the door when you open it?
I would also like to recess the locks so that they dont stick up out of the door...I rest my arm there all the time and it is kinda annoying...so if the door would unlock when i pulled the handle i could recess that lock easily enough
Any ideas?

Yeah thats been driving me me nuts too, having to unlock the door to get out. I look like an idiot when I pull the door handle 5 or 6 times trying to open it, then remmebering OH! I have to unlock it first. Still havent gotten used to that even after 1 year of having it.
I removed the door panel and it looks like it wouldn't be too hard to MacGyver up a device to unlock it when you pull the handle. although I haven't tried.

What if you don't lock them when you are inside? Or do you guys have security or something? My doors don't lock, unless I push the lock down with my arm - your other problem - I see how they might go together...
My Gr. Caravan auto locks the doors when you hit 15MPH, but it unlocks them when you pull the handle.
The only thing I can think of is to get in the habit of pushing the unlock door button as you reach for the handle...
As for the length of the locks, you could trim part of the lock rod off. You may have to get a tap and die set, depending on how far down its threaded. Don't forget - Measure twice, cut once!

^^ Or is that measure once, cut twice, measure again, then cut again? I always forget...
And yeah, why is that the xA can open the door when locked, but not the xB?

Anyone ever figure out this mod? This 'feature' of the xB lock requiring manual unlock when we want to get out is driving my wife and I nuts!!!
We would LOVE to figure out how to do this mod without having to get an aftermarket alarm!!!

Don't you have power locks in th exB? Why not hook in a momentary relay to triger the doors to unlock when you shut the car off? or better yet, why not just ues the power lock button to unlock the doors when you park, after a wile it will become second nature.
If you do decide to go the xA latch from th ejunk yard route you might want to just hit your local junk yard. Most new junk yards have computers and if they don't have what you are looking for chances are that they can get it for you in less than 24 hours or point you to the junk yard that does have it.
