Exactly -- donuts in reverse. Use the hand brake to lock up the rear wheels.

The next hot sport: backward drift racing for FWD cars. Takes much more skill and finesse.

I have experienced the same thing.
Reminds me of… Bad Cop, No Donut.
Or in this case... VSC, No Donut.
