Default E-brake light keeps coming on...

I have had my 2005 xB since August '04... It is a 5 speed... This past week, I rolled over 25,000 miles on it. Lately, I have noticed that the E-brake light light will seem to randomly come on all by itself. This seems to only happen when I accelerate fairly quickly. I don't do it often, but merging on the highways & busy streets and what not, I kind of have to. I am wondering if maybe it is a brake wear indicator, but I have no clue.. I will have to check the manual tonight. The brakes squeak a little bit when stopping, but they are still working as good now as when I got it.

Has anyone else had this problem before??

Thanks, I found the info I needed..... Trouble is that this forum has, BY FAR, the WORST search function I have ever seen on a forum....

sorry, I love the forums, just dis-like the search feature here... not very accurate...

I am going to assume that it is something with the fluid level, so I will have the dealership check it when I go in for my next oil change..

Are you the same Phatcyclist from Speed-Society?? what's up man? lol

The very same. I figured I would run into you on here at some point, lol!

Hopefully they can get whatever sensor is going off checked and replaced.

goto a gas station, pick up some STP DOT3 brake fluid ($1.59 at mobil) and pour it into your master cylinder reservoir...look in your manual for god sakes it explains why this happens and how to fix it...i just fixed mine after a couple weeks of being lazy...no sensor or anything is malfunctioning
