Default engine making "shhhhhhhh" noise on acceleration

I have had my auto 06' box for almost 2 months now. It just passed 3500 miles tonight! Anyhow, about 150 miles ago I started hearing a "shhhhhh" noise when I use the gas pedal. As soon as I take my foot off, the sound is gone. I hear this noise over the engine.

Maybe a loose belt?!?

Anyhow, I plan on takin it to the dealer monday.

Anyone else have have/heard this noise before?!

I may have on my '05 xB. For me though it isn't real pronounced. I think that it has something to do with the valves. I know that they aren't hydraulic so they are going to be a little more loud. At least that is what the dealership told me. Let me know what they told you.

It probably is the timing chain noise. The more I read about it - it sounds about right. Kinda like a raspy noise b/ween 1500-2000 rpms. I could care less about the noise as long as it means nothing bad - I don't even hear it unless I turn off the radio, etc.

I've heard that mentioned before. What IS the airbox? Are we talking that thing that fits on top of the air filter? Sorry, I'm an idiot....

Yep--the airbox holds the filter. You take it off when you instal any kind of intake. Why not take to the dealer??

The SHHH sound can come from a couple of different things. I highly doubt its your belts as your belts will make a squeeking noise. You have a vacuum problem or a hole in the air box or plumbing. Check your air box and the air tube going to it from the front of the car. If you have more questions or want a specific walk through of checking the airbox, feel free to check out URL SAS TECH
