JUst recently installed a borla axle back exhaust in my 05 xb
just the other day while parking, I know noticed a really annoying clanging noise.
I looked under the car to see that the mid section of the pipe was woblling up and down along with the heat shield beneath the gas tank. When I hold the exhaust tip it stops. Im going to service this weekend but was wondering if anyone knew what this could be, and if it is serious. Has anyone had a similair issue. My first guess was the muffler wasn't secure and that is what is shaking the pipe. It happens when I am parked and idling, or while driving especially through shifting gears. Dunno.

 

I had the same issue with my TRD exhaust. While in the shop for a different rattle, the tech noticed it and said he bent the shield slightly and all was better. I have not been under there to look at his work, but he said he just bent it using his hands, no tools.
