Scangauge is the best thing for accurate water temp reading. I've had mine for a year.

The narrow, shallow cubby just above the steering column is a good location, but I prefer a higher mount that does not take my eyes as far off the road...

Works for me, and no holes drilled.

it's good you got 'er fixed up and didnt break anything

heat is a killer though..and it can certainly shorten the life of your box's engine

So what temperatures do you normally see?

Mine usually settles around 181 or 182 degrees in normal driving.

It can get up to 204 before the fan kicks on though.

181-184 with 99.99% of the time at 182

I've seen quick shots up into the 190s, but then the system takes it back down.

What amazes me is how steady the temp stays.

Yeah that's how mine is exactly.
I was curious because my bottom grille is blocked off for better mpg.
