A few questions from a prospective buyer...
hey all,
This is the first in a series of questions I'm going to have because I'm about to take the plunge and make my first car purchase, and it's going to be an xA. I know people have probably asked before, but I did some searches and didn't totally get an idea of what i wanted to know.
First of all, I read a post in which someone said they were going to get cruise control on their xA, but I don't see it as an option online? Is there an option for it? I'd probably shell out the extra if there is.
Second, when the Scion site says "late August" for the RS 1.0 xA, when does that mean? I'm going back to school by at least the middle of the month, but honestly, that RS 1.0 is exactly what I want...do I have long to wait?
Thirdly, what accessories are worth it? I know a lot of people suggest getting them from 3rd party parts dealer, but I don't know if that will be practical because I am getting the car in NJ and then heading out to graduate school in Central PA shortly thereafter, so I'm not sure where I could get the accessories installed.
I'd really like to have a sporty ride (I'm getting a 5 speed manual), so I was thinking of getting the Cold Air Intake. If I get that, are there other things I really should get to make sure that makes a difference? How about the TRD Quickshifter? Anything else?
Is the Auto-dimming rearview mirror worth it? I have problems with headlights bothering my eyes at night, so I think for me that might be a yes, but I'd like other opinions.
One last one: how about the interior lights? Are they just gimmicky? or are they really kinda neat and worth it?
And lastly, how long does it take to get the car once I get the ball rolling? How many days from my initial visit to when I actually drive off the lot?
Thanks all,
sps

I'm the one who mentioned cruise control.
It is not an option that Scion lists, but some dealers will add it anyway. My local dealer, for example, will not add it. They tell me I would have to go to a local shop for an aftermarket system. However, two dealers in another state (near where my parents live) both offer cruise as a dealer add-on for about $300. So ask around. If one dealer won’t do it for you, another likely will.
I’ll leave the rest of your questions for other folks to answer, as I am not yet an xA owner.
Good luck.

The cold air intakes and exhausts are probably wastes of money and you will get no HP gains on a tiny engine after you spent $700. I wouldn't do anything to the engine on these until some company comes up with actual software or something to tune the engine to get real power from it.
For my car when I can afford it I want the spoiler and keyless entry. I'll lower it before I even do that but that will be with aftermarket springs.

I picked up my xA on Wednesday. From the day I put down my deposit it took exactly 3 weeks. Others on this site have had to wait longer, and there are some theories that the manual transmission will take longer to get as well.
I haven't seen any information on an actual shipping or arrival date on the limited xA, so I imagine late August is the best guess that anyone has.
Last night I drove my car on the highway at night, and I didn't have any problem with headlights or glare. I do not have the auto dimming mirror.
I think the door sills and floor mats look great, but they are kind of pricey as well. I didn't actually get the door sills, but I like the way they look.

took me 3 weeks to get my car. . .
Cruise. . . dealer installed, and GET IT
CAI. . . get an aftermarket one. . .
I don't have the TRD short shift, but I'm happy with the OEM 5spd
Interior lights? I like em. You never need to worry about LED's cracking, unlike Cold cathodes, but the LED's aren't very bright, which I like. To me, they were worth it. Cupholder lighting? A ripoff. Unless you got bottled water, it doesn't work. Secondly they are wayyy too dim. Third, they are cheap as hell. Fourth, you can make your own for much less money. They are nice, don't get me wrong, just not $200+ nice. BTW I have them.
I am VERY happy with my car. No doubt about it. I love it.
