Just buy 'em both.

As an owner of one of each I can say that in many ways the xB is superior. It really comes down to what you're looking for in car.

Your questions are mostly about mileage and economy, so I think you'd be more happy with the xB than tC. As far as 108 horsepower, the xB is a pretty lightweight car for its size and 108 moves it a lot better than 110 horsepower moved the '99 corolla that we traded in on it. I don't know that anyone will ever call it sporty, but it gets up and goes well enough.

As for mods, the choices are nearly the same with both the xB and the tC, although one thing I've noticed with the audio is that the interior acoustics of the xB produce a superior sound. Something about all that headroom just lets the xB sound better inside. The tC rocks, but the xB has better bass without even trying.

Of course, the tC pushes you back in the seat a little when you floor it. That makes up for an awful lot.

 

Yeah, it you have enough money buy both, I would, I really want the tC too.
