Default Are fog lights worth it?

$350 seems like a bit much. I mean... that's an extra two months of payments given the down payment I intend to put on the car. Are they that good? This is coastal Maine, so there are times where fog is frequent, but the question is, are they actually any good? There's no sense of paying $350 for a crappy set of fog lights when I've driver my whole life without them.

I suppose I probably don't need them. For that price, I can just slow down a bit more on the occasion that there's REALLY heavy fog around.

I don't think the OEM ones are worth itm you can get the same quality from walmart for under 100, of course I'm getting http://www.tirerack.com/accessories/...o_de_xenon.jsp , and at $600 a piece its not something for everyone

I got the fogs. They are not bright, but do make a noticeable difference in the fog. The major deciding factor for me was the fact that I HATE the way cars look with the covers over where fogs are supposed to go. I think it looks cheap.

Keep in mind this is from an xB owner.

Hella optilux 4500 fits nicely around the hole, but you'll have to work around the installation since it's not entirely bolt on.

Still~ for 40 bucks and two hours, you'll get yourself a nice set of angel eye foglights that look much better than OEM.

I love the clean look of factory fogs over "blank" covers or aftermarket ones on ANY car!

And you can buy them online cheaper than what the dealer charges.

Just my $.02

I wouldn't spend the $300+ for the stock fog lights. I bought the stock fog lights from someone on this forum for 150. I bought them mainly for looks. I think it gives the xA a more aggressive look.

I have the OEM fogs. . . had the car for less than a year, and BOTH lenses are already cracked. . . make sure you buy some clear vinyl gaurds. These fogs are near worthless in performance and quality. But I certainly hate the look of those covers. . . makes it almost worth the money. I only bought mine because of bad experiences with aftermarket fogs, but I now regret my decision. If you are in any way mechanically inclined, get an aftermarket set. If not, $300 is practically worth the cosmetic difference. It's a big difference.

Yuck, sorry to hear that. Where would you get the clear vinyl guards from?

I forgot the exact name of the guy, but he is on SL. . . has them in clear, yellow, and blue/hyper white colors. It's a good thickness and quality. Anyone remember his name? I'm sure a search will pull his name up. Try searchin for fog and vinyl

Look for posts by JINSU. He sells ClearGuard vinyl foglight protection. I have a pair of yellow ones on mine. They are pretty thick and easy to apply. I recommend them!
