Default Front Plate?

Just wanted to get a feel for how many of us run with the front license plate.

Personally, I told my dealer to find cars that hadn't yet been drilled up front & not to drill them or I wouldn't buy the cars.

I hate holes in the front bumper...laws or not, I don't care.

A member here on SL, made a nice little kit, that lets you mount the plate to the front grille of the car. So you dont need to drill holes. So if you must run a plate up front, I would say look for this kit, or make one your self.

I strongly dislike the front plate laws but understand why they exist... I just wish the dealers would ask their customers whether or not to drill the holes. This way those of us who dislike holes or possibly run the car through car shows could come up with an alternative for mounting other than holes!

Here is the bracket link on Ebay...

I live in LA and got pulled over last year for no front plate leaving Santa Monica... I will have a front plate on mine just to avoid any future fix-it tickets...

That has GOT to suck, being made to drill holes in your bumper so the law can write more tickets...

Front plates are a state lae in NH. Mine doesn't look too bad at all with the black plastic frame on it.

The thing I don't like is that the bolts for the plate have also been screwed into the bumper, so now I have four holes up there.

It's the law here in CT too...I just choose which laws to 'bend' & that one is sitting at 90 degrees.

Law in New Jersey as well.

I know that Pennsylvania does not have front plates.

since it's law here (CT resident as well) i just let 'em screw it in... wish i knew about a bracket kit before that though, i probably would have gone that route instead. oh well

im always jealous of people i see driving around here without front plates, but then i talk to my cop buddies who LOVE pulling people over for that and i dont feel as bad anymore. especially if a cop is trying to "stack" tickets (speeding + no plate + etc etc etc), or looking for other excuses to pull you over (I'm 26 but still get carded for cigarettes all the time, so cops see a young face and like to bust ***** cuz they assume you're just some punk). i dont feel like giving them an excuse to pull me over if i can avoid it.

The 808customs one is better than that Cusco style one from eBay as it doesn't require drilling. The Cusco style still has to be mounted to the bumper.

Here's the link to order them:

Or if you're a DIY kinda person, check my thread in the Tech Section on making your own:
