Back a few years ago, there was a thread asking folks to post about their best ghetto mods. Well, this may not be a true ghetto mod, so let's just call it a cheap exhaust update! I don't know if it's been rehashed but I'll start another one off with today's mod.

The factory chrome exhaust tip on the Gen1 xB is very underwhelming. I did this mod on my first box and I repeated it today with my new on. The tip came from Auto Zone for $25. It's heavy solid stainless steel and it's chrome plated. Installation was a snap at 10 minutes max. You just pry off the original tip with a screwdriver, and a few taps of a hammer. Work with it and it comes off easily. No need to be gentle as you're not going to use it again anyways. The new one just bolts one with 3 bolts which you don't see unless you get down really low and look for them. That's it.

It gives the look of a more substantial exhaust without actually changing can. If you're just after a good look, this is a good, cheap mod.

i used to get those for my cars when i was in high school. don't think i would go the same route now however. but not a bad look.

I think when someone installs a tip, especially on a truck, and you can see where the tip is screwed on then that is messed up. This one is a clean install and you can't really tell it's just a tip unless you get down and look for it.

All in all I'm pleased.

I'll (finally) be doing my pillars in a few weeks, along with helping my sister recover the headliner in her Saturn.

 

Nope, no diffence in sound, which is good for me.
