Default Got my xb! One problem

Hi all, I got my new xB today and I absolutely love it. I just have one small problem.. The guy at the dealership wasn't able to remove the marker on the windshield that said NEW CAR on it. Apparently he ran out of steel wool. I thought steel wool would be pretty abrasive so I used one of those dish washing pads, they are a little abrasive but I didn't think they would leave scratches. Alas they did and I wanted to ask if anyone knows what I should do now? They seem like fine scratches but I don't want them on my new car! Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Nyd,

Never use anything like that on glass! Only new razorblades.

That said. Try some chrome polish or mothers aluminum polish. If it doesn't work have them install a new windshield. Good luck.

The only steel wool that is glass safe is maked "0000" (4 zeros). It will polish glass, stainless steel, chrome, ect. That's probably what the guy was using. That dish washing pad is actually much more abrasive than 0000 steel wool.

You might contact a glass repair shop to see if they will buff that section for you.

Pros can easily buff out very fine scratches on glass... start with the phone book...

The process may leave some slight distortion in the affected area- you'll have to be looking to find it...

Is Comet and a sponge okay to use for a deep glass cleaning?

Nothing with grit. Try using Claybar then invisable glass and newspaper. I Nano wax my glass afterward.

Thanks for the tips. I must have road film or something on the windshield, because when I use the wipers, it makes it harder to see. I also have lots of bugs and poop on there too. They won't wash off.
