Default Grill/brush guards?

You've probably seen those grill guards that are sometimes on larger SUVs, in case the owners ever go offroading. They're supposed to protect the taillights and the front end from damage, presumably from tree branches slapping around.

Is there anything like this for our toasters? I've been looking for ways to make the box look more "truck-like"

nothing. It all has to be fabricated. There was one guy who made a front brush guard. I think his SN was rallyingthexb. It was a year or so back. Other then that I've not seen anything like what you are looking for.

It's important to note that those things can often interfere with bumper and airbag operation, add drag and weight, and in general, you shouldn't be offroading anywhere that there isn't a trail, much less in an xB.

Besides, they're ugly.

no way. not for an xb. that would just be kind of pointless. what purpose would it serve? protect the front end when you go rock crawling?

I found some pics in his profile. He's long since taken apart but I remember it was one of the only ones done up like it. I always liked it. :D

I'm not going offroading. I read an article in some investment magazine about how cars these days have bumpers that are all looks, don't protect very well, and are very expensive to repair.

lol, yeah that is any car now. Even some crossover utility vehicles (CUV's)

It's the Unibody design versus the frame design. Older american cars have a frame which reinforces the bumpers whereas now the bumpers are bolted onto the Unibody with crumple zones and what not. Cars now are safer then the older cars but even a minor collision can cause enough damage to "total" the car.

Unfortunately putting a brush guard on an xB or on most unibody vehicles can cause more issues or problems then the crappy bumpers that they come with.
