Default Hatch panel recover/introduction

I’ve been visiting this site for awhile because it’s a great group of people with no end of ideas, but I haven't posted a lot. I thinking about recovering my headliner and I found Smartass’s write up. The guy is truly talented, but it looked complicated enough I wanted a trial run. Since I hated the carpet section on the hatch, I decided to give it a shot. I now know I could probably recover the headliner, but I think I’d rather pay someone

Thanks to everyone for coming together to make a great resource and community here!

It looks great though... nice job. From what you said I am sure the headliner would be a tough chore to recover especially if you are doing it alone.

Looks very nice. I purchased the fabric to cover mine, but it ended up getting used on another project and I never replaced it.

Thanks guys. I was happy with the way it turned out, but it was a flat piece. I have started looking for a shop around here to do the headliner, so I'm taking suggestions if anyone has any.

Headliners aren't as hard as you think. What type of material are you thinking of using? Stock colors with foam backing is easily installed in a couple of hours but if you want an exotic material like fur or leather you could spend 6 hours or a bit more. Still, it isn't as hard you you think.

I actually wanted to do vinyl. I had my niece and nephew in the car and now there is a mystery stain over the back seat. I hate cleaning the stock foam because is starts to get fuzzy as soon as you breathe on it. I definately need something a little more durable.
