Default Hate to say it but its gotta go

I bought my box for work purposes for the excellent gas mileage and the ability to put the seats down and haul things. Along the way the box some how aquired 18inch rims and some drop spring and I have grow to love this little box. But reality sets in and I have to sell it to buy a truck cause I just need more space to put crap to haul things. What does an 04 Xb with 27k miles, green in color, A/C, power window-lockes, rims drop spring go for? If I kelly blue book it 14210 is what they are selling for and that seems high to me but I bought mine for 14500 and on auto trader have seem them with 53k mile for 15k. So what is a fair market value for these little boxes? :pray

I would love to get a beater but I drive 25k miles a year and need something reliable and not one that is going to break down on me. And if the pric sounds about right then I will advertize it for that much.

You'll be lucky to get 12 k for it. I saw an 05's with chrome 18's with 25k miles for $11,900 up by Philly a couple weeks ago. Mods don't help much with resale. Sometimes it actually reduces what they are worth. I wish you luck selling it. But think a good used truck would be a better solution.

If you go to a Toyota dealer, and you negotiate with them, they will probably give you $12-15k for the xB - all assuming you also get your new vehicle from them. The best time/place to negotiate is with a dealer that you are buying a new car from. My Hummer has only been getting offers for $29k but the dealer told me if I went in and traded in my h2 for a newer model, they would give me $37k for it...

Too bad american cars and truck suck so much - there is no way in hell im getting another american car let alone a hummer. I'm keeping what I have until it's worth $1200. hahahaahahahaha.

best of luck,
- sh00k

I went to the ford dealer to look at the rangers for my work truck and asked them what they would give me for my box and they said $9500 and I told them to get bent in a large way. but oh well after that incident i went t o anouther ford dealer and asked them the same thing and atleast that sales guy had the ball to tell me str8 up that it is better to sell it to private party then trade it in and if I do decide to sell my box I will go back to that guy to buy my truck.

PLEASE don't buy a Ford. There is an American Family boycott currently in effect because of some mis-placed adds in lifestyle mags. If they really wanted your business they would not low ball you on your trade. If you must sell the box your best bet is Auto Trader or possibly Carmax.

I agree with both the Auto Trader, and the Carmax part. They are both usually better than dealer trade in prices. Carmax is usually very near KBB price.

And there are lots of good reasons not to buy a Ford, but that ain't one of them.

Craigslist! A great way to buy or sell anything.

Never trade in a car, unless there's something wrong with it that you don't want to tell the buyer about... or if you just don't want to deal with the hassle of a private party sale... unless you're buried under the payments, in which case you'll pay to get rid of it, no matter what.

Good points. Also keep in mind that January can be one of the best months to buy a new car, price-wise, because the market is soft right after Christmas.
Good luck!

Uh, just checking if I'm interpreting this correctly... "American Family" is the "American Family Association," the dedicated-if-not-totally-ineffective fundamentalist organization, and "misplaced ads in lifestyle mags" means "OMG THEY DON'T HATE ___ PEOPLE. OMG."

Is that about right?

Yes, that's right. They don't "Hate" them. They just don't want others to patronize a company that advertises in ___ mags. It's all about Family Values. You know MORALS

You can have your own opinions about them but they seem to be making a big difference in Ford profit losses.

That's a joke, right? Ford lost $1.6 billion in North America in 2005, well before the boycott was in place.

Ford sold 180,000 vehicles in just the month of November (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/15989376/) , and that's still a huge dip for them. If you think this has aaaanything to do with the measly 50,000 people (less than the population of two high schools in my town, btw), you seriously need to take a statistics class. Maybe if it was fifty MILLION people, it would matter. Besides, who ISN'T the AFA boycotting these days? Nobody cares.

I can't believe Ford is even bothering to return their phone calls, considering how insignificant the AFA's constituents are in comparison to the dollar of the previously-untapped ___ advertising market. Or any of Ford's OTHER massive problems, for that matter.

PM me if you want to discuss it further. Otherwise, why don't you keep your unresearched political opinions off ScionLife, and just talk about xB's here.
