Since 1st gen xB's don't have the programmable keys, just take a valid ID, VIN, and proof of ownership to the dealer. They can cut one for you. I wouldn't imagine it'd be anymore than 7 or 8 dollars for a key.

Occasionally, the police department will be nice and jimmy the door open.

Or a locksmith... realistically, unless the key is in the car, why bother?

I'd say go back after you get in and demand your other key and remote fob from the place you bought it. Each car came with 2 so it should have been given to you.

No doubt. If he bought it from a private owner then he is SOL. I would have used that to reduce the price of the car. Those things can get expensive if lost.
Remember to carry an extra key in your wallet man. I'm kinda surprised your parents didn't make you get another key made for emergencies like this. Good luck.

Huh??? What are you trying to say Rob? A coat hanger wont work on an xB. There is nothing to hook onto. He's gonna have to go to the dealer with his VIN and have a key made.

that blows. dealer is the best bet. or a good locksmith. usually they can wedge the top of the door open and use a hanger or something similar to hit the unlock button.

then give them 60 bucks for a job well done.

Mine came with 3 keys and 2 remote controls. The brick is rather expensive when you price the replacement of the glass you break with it. I don't know if a slimjim will open the door either - my Geo did not have any linkage in the door that you could hook with the slimjim to unlock it. I would be wondering where the missing keys are from the privious owner but yeah get to the Dealer and have a key made.

You would think.

When I picked up my box from the dealer, he gave me two keys/remotes and I asked him how much it would cost for 1 additional key. He told me $125.00.

I almost hit the floor from laughing so hard!
