Default HID lights with Projection headlights

I just got a set of Sonar Projection head lights, a label on them says not for use with HID lights.
Has anyone installed HID lights with projection headlights?
Is this something to pay attention to or can I use HID low beams?
Thanks in advance for all replies.

Read this and you'll understand why do-it-yourself HID kits don't cut it.

The sonar's have a very nice cutoff with HID kits. I've seen good and bad reports. You get what you pay for in the kit though, keep that in mind. Research the kit you buy and make sure you get one that is worth every penny.

Just whatever you do... don't put HIDs in a reflector housing.

Well, pardon me for answering your question. Next time, if you don't like the answer, don't ask the question ;).

That's pretty doubtful. With the haphazard filament alignment that comes from inserting HIDs into mismatched reflectors, massive light scattering is almost guaranteed. There's another website out there that contains photos of the horrible real-world effects of HIDs inserted into projector lenses. Here's the link Scroll on down to the photos and see what you get with HIDs that aren't properly matched with reflectors as complete assemblies.

The Sonar low beam housing are projectors with proper cut-off assemblies. Using a properly matched 9006 HID bulb in the Sonar housing will not magically scatter the glare due to improper fitment. Check these threads for some examples.

Now, here's an example of someone who doesn't research the problems of HIDs in reflector housings:

Now, putting the HID bulb in the location for the high beams on the Sonars is just dumb.

Here's my cutoff with 55W HID in my sonars. It's perfect. Game. Set. Match.

Pretty convincing, I'll admit.

Zero glare, razor sharp cutoff. It's perfect. HID in a reflector based headlight is where you get nasty glare, and H4 base is even worse (since the low and high beam is housed in the same reflector).
